Five times A-Reece proved he could rap

Lehlogonolo Ronald Mataboge (or commonly known as A-Reece) has become a highly regarded entity in the SA hip-hop/rap scene. Being a young one, he’s constantly had to show and prove that he deserves his shine amongst the best, and every time he’s come through. That’s why on his 21st birthday week we’re highlighting the five times he proved he’s got bars.

1. Paradise

Baby boy has dropped some gems with a sing-songy delivery about how he’s managed to work through all his struggles to get to where he is now.

2. Feelings (Ft. Flame)

This post-break up anthem featuring Flame finds the young one speaking on or rather going through influenza than catching feelings. This is where we got to see the Drake influence more overtly.

3. Zimbali

What’s the point of a come up when we can’t celebrate our spoils? On this joint, A-Reece channels the trademark Ambitiouz sound. A celebratory track, it did the rounds back in the days and made people get familiar with the face.

4. Meanwhile in Honeydew

This back-to-back banger showed that A-Reece could hold his own even outside of Ambitiouz. The video showed snippets of his crazy life and the song utilized two of his biggest talents, singing and rapping. The beat switch is also quite live too.

5. Pick You Up (Riky feature)

As much as this wasn’t his song, he owned it. His verse was meant as an open letter to his former label and a certain rapper signed to that label who kept prodding him by calling him a ‘counterfeit Drake‘ amongst other things.

Happy 21st birthday A-Reece, more wins and more life to you and The Wrecking Crew.
